Without Limits: Fusion Tournament Recap
Without Limits Ultimate celebrates 10 years of Fusion!
Last month, Without Limits celebrated Year 10 of Fusion! Michelle co-founded Fusion in 2010 as a collaboration between Showdown and Brute Squad. The initial goal was to raise money for both teams who were coming off an appearance at Worlds and to bring the women's college and club divisions together. The tournament was incredibly well-received. 15 club teams and 24 college teams attended in the first year! The tournament also served as the official launch of Without Limits, and they've been going strong since. You can read more about the origins of Fusion here and here.
One of the most special parts of Fusion is the skills clinic, where club players teach college players in back-to-back 30 minute sessions covering a variety of basic skills such as cutting, person defense, and throwing. Since the introduction of the Triple Crown Tour, Fusion has evolved into a women's college division only tournament but the skills clinic remains a key part of the tournament. Over the past handful of years, Without Limits has worked with teams like Backhanded, Agency, and Phoenix to deliver this exciting season kick-off opportunity to teams. In addition to learning basic skills, college players have a chance to meet players on other teams as well as meet amazing role models in their clinic coaches. It's a great way to introduce rookies to the sport and the community. VC has been proud to be a part of this event for many years now, supporting both Fusion and Without Limits in a variety of ways.
Without Limits will close out the fall season with Blue Ridge Finale in early November and plans to announce their Spring 2020 lineup soon.
