Meet Paul Lowe | Southern US Rep
A new Team & Event Rep joins the VC team in the Southern US.
We are excited to welcome Paul Lowe, more famously know as PD, to the VC team! PD will be helping teams get to know VC's products better in the southern US. He'll also be out at multiple events on our behalf – be sure to stop by the VC tent and say hello to this guy!
Hello PD! Tell us a bit about yourself: where are you from and when did you start playing ultimate?
I am from a small town called Paris, Tennessee. I actually stumbled into playing "real" ultimate... I had played pick-up with no rules in high school before attending the University of Tennessee.
Hilariously, I signed up for the club ultimate team thinking I was signing up for intramural. From there, I fell in love with the structured play style of the sport.
What’s been the best game or point of ultimate you’ve ever played?
Probably last summer against another Austin team, where I got two Ds on back-to-back points to take half.
How did you get started in sales? How do you like to approach the customer/sales rep relationship?
I had my first sales job with Savage, actually! After graduation, I moved to Austin to work for a wholesale distributor (think The Office's Jim Halpert but in the sign industry).
I like to think I bring a good mix of professionalism and friendliness to my relationships with potential clients. I want to make sure that they have all of the information they need, while also having fun throughout what can be a complicated process.
What are you looking forward to most in joining the VC team?
I've already been working with the VC team over the past year as one of their tournament representative regulars. I am looking forward to expanding my role more and taking on the US market!
Our goal is to make sure that customers get what they ordered exactly as ordered, on time, every time. I'm excited to work for a company that can live up to that promise and always makes it right quickly if/when a problem or mistake does happen.
What is your dream tournament, to work or play?
My favorite to work so far was Club Nationals, but my dream tournament to work at would be PAUC (the WFDF Pan American Ultimate Championships).
To play in... my dream tournament would be Wildwood or Poultry Days. [Editor's note: PD, this shouldn't be too hard to make happen... go for it!]
Favorite thing to do outside of working and ultimate?
Outside of everything, I mostly just spend time with my teammates - they have practically become a second family to me since moving to Austin. Aside from that, video games, going to music festivals, and sleeping.
