Meet Kellan Gibboney. Kellan helped us develop our Pronouns collection, providing valuable insight on the importance of proper pronoun use, and the impact it can have on creating safe spaces.
2021 Pronouns & Pride Reflections
"A couple of weeks ago, I had a conversation about pronouns while planning some Pride Month things for my day job. And as our external partner was pushing an action item that assumed acknowledgement of pronouns was commonplace, I realized very quickly that the topic of pronouns almost never comes up at my work.
There are days when I am forced to remember that I work near people who don't know what pronouns are, let alone why they matter so deeply. And while I do everything I can to help educate others, it continues to be exhausting when I am educating them about me.
And on those days, I'm so thankful for VC's Pronouns collection and to have had the opportunity to work on it. It continues to start and foster conversations. It continues to be the gear I get the most compliments on.
And every time you wear something from this collection, you're helping to lighten the load carried by trans, nonbinary, and gender expansive people.
Thank you. Each of these carry a piece of my heart."
