Models Announcement: Anne Reader, Kaycee Hunt, Raghuveer 'Ragz'

We are excited to introduce our first 3 models: Anne, Kaycee, and Ragz! Keep reading if you want to learn more about why we chose these 3 amazing people and how we think they'll help us be #OnlyTheBest.

Anne Reader

Anne's story begins the same as most ultimate players: someone in her life endlessly told her to try the sport and eventually she did in hopes they would leave her alone. Anne recalls the exact moment she fell in love with the sport: "It was during summer league, when I erupted in a screaming match over a travel call, that it happened." The ultimate bug bit her.

Anne loves ultimate because of the community. After being away due to injury, she was worried how her team would welcome her. In the end, her team offered her a hug and a warm welcome. It's this type of strong community that makes us love our sport. 

We chose Anne because we believe she represents strong women in the ultimate world who are capable of bouncing back from anything, including injuries. Her undeniable love for the sport continuously drives her to the gym so that she can get back into her cleats.

Like Anne says, "ultimate has wrecked me, but it's also made me the best possible me I could be." We couldn't agree more Anne. Welcome to the team, Anne.

Kaycee Hunt

Kaycee may be one of our younger models, but her ultimate track record is impressive: she represented her province on Team Manitoba, she's on Winnipeg's top women's team Fusion, and she'd had the opportunity to represent Team Canada. 

Kaycee mentioned to us that she thinks the values highlighted in the ultimate community and the game (gender equity, mutual respect, spirit of the game, communication) are ones that resonate in her every day life, and we love that. Being able to bring the sport to the outside world is important to us and that's a reason we chose Kaycee. 

Here is a quote from Kaycee's application which resonated with all of us in the office: "Your teammates become family, and your rivals become community." Is that not the most poetic way to talk about ultimate?

We're excited for Kaycee to represent the VC brand as she continues to develop as a player and as a strong female role model in her community. Welcome to the team, Kaycee.

Raghuveer 'Ragz' 

Hailing from India, Ragz has quite literally dedicated his life to ultimate. Guess how many tournaments he's played in? 67. We aren't joking. And we aren't just talking fun hat tournaments. Ragz has been to AOUCC, WCBU, AOUC, WUGC and WUCC. Bottom line: Ragz is the real deal.

Not only is he an active player, but he is active in his community. Ragz started a women only clinic called "Wonder Women", which focuses on women playing ultimate. He hopes to continue growing ultimate in his community.

"I may have missed a better way of life, better environment, better career opportunities, but I will never regret playing ultimate because the memories which I shared with so many people are going to last forever." Well said, Ragz. Welcome to the team.
