Happy New Year | Excited for 2020
A very heartfelt thank you to all of our friends and fans for a fantastic 2019! We wanted to take a few moments to share our highlights from the past year, and share what we're most looking forward to in the upcoming year.
Our Top Highlight: The Premier Ultimate League
To say we're proud of our involvement with the PUL is an understatement. Not only was the inaugural season of the world's first professional womxn's league incredibly rewarding, it made us feel encouraged, driven and hopeful for the future of our sport.
From the remarkable success of the Player Sponsorship Program, where our community came together to raise $120,000 to help fund the original 8 teams, to the online viewership of the 2019 Championship Weekend (almost 20,000 views!), the Premier Ultimate League exceeded expectations in every way, and we were thrilled to have each player competing in VC gear.
With four more teams joining the league in 2020, we're expecting even more fun - and we've been working around the clock to get ready for it! Stay tuned for new official merchandise and replica options coming your way in February.
Continuing Our Transition to Non-Binary Fits
Over the past year, we have been redeveloping the VC product line to be non-binary, meaning that the fit of our gear isn't aimed at just male or female athletes. By changing the way we look at sizing standards and labeling, we're able to envision a future where every VC product is fit-based - a more inclusive approach to ensure that every athlete who wants to wear our gear is comfortable in doing so, and doesn't need to identify by, or rely on, a gender choice to select their clothing size.
The first product in this endeavor was our new Raglan jersey, which is available in both a reversible and a long sleeve version.
What's next: we've relentlessly reviewed our Classic Tank and Revolution patterns and are excited to say that they have met our non-binary/made-for-all criteria! You'll see new labeling on these styles shortly, along with the launch of new Fitted versions for both in spring 2020.
More Green Ahead
Have you noticed that lots of our little grey branding labels now sport a green highlight? That subtle distinction is our way of letting you know that this item is made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastics! You can learn more about this here and read our announcement about recycled discs here!
Everyone Is Welcome Here
Our goal for 2020 is to ensure that every member of the ultimate community knows they are welcome at VC, regardless of their gender, race, sexual orientation, etc. We want to be your favourite ultimate brand, and we're willing to work hard to make it happen.
Our commitment is to support youth teams and events, all of the World Flying Disc Federation's Championship tournaments, and to offer equitable pricing to teams from lower socio-economic areas or made of marginalized players through our Equity and Development Sponsorship.
We are able to do this with your support, and for that we are forever grateful. To every person who has purchased a piece of VC gear at a tournament, in the online store or as part of a team order's custom uniforms, thank you.
