Sublimation is the most impressive and detailed way to customize your performance apparel, allowing for endless design possibilities. Designs can incorporate any colour, gradient, font or effect that you can think of. Designs can go across seams, under arms, along waistbands - all while maintaining the wicking properties of your jersey as you go to work on the playing field.
Sublimation is a process whereby ink is actually burned into the fibres of the garment, as opposed to the way ink is caked on top of the material in conventional silk screening. Your design is first printed on paper sheets, then applied to the garment using a heat press.
The technical benefits of sublimation are as impressive as the design capabilities. Once a design has been sublimated it will become part of the material. This means that the design will stretch with the fabric, it will allow sweat to wick through the design, and the image surface will not crack or fade over time or with repeated washing.
Full-body sublimation involves sublimating panels of fabric before they are sewn together, which allows you to maximize your design space and incorporate every square inch of jersey in your design. This requires a significant amount of design attention, since the art must be:
Spot sublimation is a process by which your design is applied to a smaller area of a previously sewn white garment. Spot sublimation may be chosen over screen printing because you can effectively have as many colors as are in your logo (gradients and shading as well) without incurring the extra screen set up fees that would be associated with a multi-colored design.
The maximum area for a spot sublimated logo is 15 inches by 15 inches. You can put several spot sublimated logos together to achieve a larger look, but you should leave a gap in the design to allow for some flexibility in lining the artwork up on each jersey.
We can spot sublimate on jerseys and shorts in other light colours (not just white), but the design will take on the colour of the garment. For best results, stick to White, Ice, Lemon, Lime, Powder, Light Pink garments. Your VC sales representative will be happy to look at your art and give you some advice regarding colour choices.
VC staff thoroughly reviews all orders, but each sublimated garment is unique and hand made. Some inconsistencies may occur from print to print including: small colour discrepancies, dust spots, and "ghosting" or colour shadowing. These are part of the sublimation process and cannot be prevented. If you believe there is a problem with one of our products beyond these issues, please contact us.
To determine complete item pricing for your spot sublimated gear, we take the base price of the product and add the requested spot sublimation cost on top of that.
For example, a short sleeve Classic jersey with a standard spot sub logo on the front (8"x8") and small logo over a player number would be priced out like this, assuming your team order was 12+ units:
Short sleeve jersey: $25
Spot sub front logo: $6
Spot sub back: $6 + $1 = $7*
*Since the full back number + logo fits within the same 8"x8" area (i.e. we can apply the design in one "hit"), the back cost is only $7.
If you qualify for a partnership/sponsorship discount or special offer, that is taken off the base product price. For example, a 10% discount would make this jersey $35.50.
