Statement on tournament attendance and merchandising

Hello community,

My name is Adriana and I am the team leader at VC Ultimate. I’m writing to you today to share our plans for the foreseeable future regarding attending and merchandising tournaments. We agree wholeheartedly with Ultiworld’s recent article on the danger of yellow lights in our sport, and as thus I wanted to state our position clearly.

VC will not be attending or merchandising any events until at least September 15, 2020. We will re-evaluate this policy in late August when we feel it is safe to do so. The recent talk of ultimate seasons launching in July with tournaments happening in August strikes us as irresponsible and selfish.

There is absolutely no place for prioritizing profits over the safety and health of our community.

The need for this essential statement came to me in the middle of the night, while struggling with a 39C (102.5F) fever – soaked in sweat and worry for my VC team, our network of delivery suppliers and all of our customers. As I currently sit in a line of 60 cars awaiting to get tested for COVID-19*, I realize that now is the time for decisiveness, and expressing a renewed conviction in upholding the highest standards of hygiene and safety protocols.  

As much of the world slowly reopens, we hope you’ll continue to respect the guidelines set forth by the experts working ceaselessly to keep us all safe.
